Common Appliance Issues & Repair Tips
Dishwashers
We often get calls for dishwashers leaking, not draining and not cleaning dishes properly. Oftentimes, our service technicians are able to clean out a drain pump or drain hose to fix a dishwasher without needing parts.
Repair tip – Make sure your dishwasher filter is clean and clear and your rinse aid is full. This will dramatically help keep your dishwasher running smoothly and your dishes coming out clean.
Refrigerators
Common refrigerator issues we see range from poor cooling to leaking water to strange noises.
Repair tip – If a fridge isn’t cooling properly, sometimes it is due to the evaporator fan being frosted up. One way to fix this issue before seeing a technician is unplugging your fridge and letting it defrost for 24-48 hours. Making sure your fridge and freezer isn’t overcrowded can also help prevent this issue.
Washers & Dryers
Most problems with washers and dryers have to do with odd noises, temperature issues or mechanical failures. More often than not it is worth it to have these issues repaired rather than replacing the unit.
Repair tip – If a dryer isn’t heating, make sure that the dryer vent that leads to the outside of your house is clear of lint and debris. This is a very common issue.
Ranges
One of the most common issues with stoves and ranges is when they become unable to regulate heat properly, either by not heating up enough or heating up too much. These types of problems will often display with an error code.
Repair tip – One thing to try before having a technician stop by if you do have an error code is resetting the breaker. This may re-set the control board and get your range operational again.
Microwaves
Many of our customers are surprised at how complex diagnosing a microwave problem can be. Whether it’s not turning on or not heating up, our trained service technicians are here to help.
Repair tip – Try resetting the breaker to clear any error codes. If this doesn’t work, it is best to call a professional.
